Abby Webster Reflects on #WeAreCoaches HP1 Seminar

Jul. 04, 2025

This past weekend in Calgary, Abby Webster proudly represented the Northwest Territories at the first-ever national gathering of women coaches at the High Performance 1 (#WeAreCoaches) Seminar. It was more than just a coaching clinic, it was a milestone for women in sport and a moment of inspiration that Abby will never forget.

"Personally, it was incredible to be in a room full of strong, passionate female coaches from across the country. That feeling of empowerment was unmatched," Abby shared. "I now have a whole network of coaches I can turn to when I need advice or support."

Professionally, Abby walked away with new insights into systems and tactics specific to the female game, along with fresh approaches to building team culture. She’s eager to bring those lessons back to her athletes in the NWT. "There were too many takeaways to count. I’m excited to implement some of these new ideas this upcoming season. The game is always evolving, and it’s our job as coaches to evolve with it."

Being part of this historic event was both humbling and motivating. "It’s an experience I’ll never forget. I left feeling a huge sense of accomplishment, and hope that more female coaches from the NWT will have the chance to attend in the future." As for what’s next, Abby remains committed to creating opportunities for girls and women in hockey. "Whether I’m working with a full-season team or at a weekend camp, I want to help young players grow their love for the game. That’s always the main goal."

From all of us at Hockey NWT, we’re proud to celebrate Abby’s achievements and leadership. Thank you for representing Team NT with passion and purpose, and for being a role model for the next generation of coaches and players across the North.
