National Hockey Mom Day, Thank You for Everything

Jan. 08, 2026

Today, on National Hockey Mom Day, we pause during the Team NT Arctic Winter Games Trials to recognize a group of people whose impact is felt in every rink across the North, Hockey Moms.

Hockey Moms are resilient, strong, brave, and deeply supportive. They are early risers and late night planners, steady drivers on long winter roads, and familiar faces in cold arenas. Their commitment is quiet but constant, and it reaches far beyond the game itself.

In the North, Hockey often means early mornings, long distances, unpredictable weather, and full days built around practices, games, and travel. Hockey Moms show up through it all. They create structure, encouragement, and stability, helping young athletes feel supported and ready, both on and off the ice.

Today is about gratitude. Gratitude for the sacrifices made, the time given freely, and the belief in young players that never wavers. Hockey Moms help shape confident athletes, strong teammates, and respectful community members. Their influence lasts far longer than any season.

To all Hockey Moms across the Northwest Territories, thank you. Thank you for the miles driven, the cold arenas endured, the early alarms, and the unwavering support. You are an essential part of Team NT, and today, we celebrate you.
