2023 Canada Winter Games - PRIDE

Mar. 01, 2023

We recognize and celebrate the unique opportunities that sport provides in uniting people to a common goal. We embrace the essential value of belonging as essential for individual growth, team success and sport excellence.

Using education and promotions as tools to promote, inspire and highlight the very important value that there is a place for anyone in sports. Hockey NWT strives to empower all members and volunteers (from the home to competition arena and everything and everyone in between) to understand and embrace the language of inclusion. We want to ensure the safety and inclusion of all in sports - including 2SLGBTQI athletes, coaches and fans.

We want to create a diverse, inclusive community in which everyone feels safe, respected and valued - regardless of any aspect of one's identity, including but not limited to race, ethnicity, national origin, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, socioeconomic status, ability or age. Central to our commitment is a sustained effort to increase participation from historically underrepresented groups.

It is so simple for Team NT Hockey at the 2023 Jeux du Canada Games. A perspective from coaches, athletes and managers. If you can play, you can play!!!

“Feel free to be yourself.“ - Jersey Ashton (athlete)

“Love is Love.“ - Tori Spencer (Assistant coach)

“There are so many different ways to be beautiful. We all deserve to be who we are without compromise.” - Beverly Pilgrim (director of operations/team manager)

It is simple, if you can play, you can play!!! #weareallteamnt #pride
