Suicide Prevention Workshops Coming to Yellowknife in May 2024

Yellowknife residents will have the opportunity to participate in suicide prevention workshops scheduled to take place from May 10 to 13, 2024, at the Arcan Sport Facility. The workshops aim to provide valuable information and resources to help individuals recognize warning signs, offer support, and prevent suicide.

Organized by a dedicated team from the Centre of Suicide Prevention, these workshops will cover essential topics related to mental health, suicide prevention strategies, and ways to support those in need. Participants will have the chance to engage in interactive sessions, discussions, and activities designed to enhance their understanding of mental health issues and suicide prevention techniques.

May 10, 2024 - Little Cub (Preventing Suicide in Indigenous Children)
A one-day suicide prevention workshop for adults who work with Indigenous children 12 years and younger. 

May 11-12, 2024 - ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training)
Suicide first-aid. A two day, skills based workshop for intervening with a person thinking about suicide. 

May 13, 2024 - River of Life (Promoting life in Indigenous young people)
A half day workshop created for individuals working with Indigenous young people 12 and up.
